Economics at School and University – Future Directions

Jim Riley

22nd December 2011

I am speaking at a Treasury/BoE conference in early February 2012 about future directions in economics at school / university. I have been asked to give a school perspective and would be really interested to have views of teaching colleagues on

(i) What teachers would really like to see taught at A level that is not at the moment

(ii) What former students are saying about their university experiences studying economics

(iii) Feelings and thoughts about creating stronger links between schools and universities in economics-related disciplines

There has already been a huge response from teaching colleagues in particular about where they would like AS and A2 courses to head in the years to come and some feedback from students who have moved on from school to take economics-related degree courses. I am very grateful for the many considered replies and I will be spending some time shortly after Christmas to bring these together ahead of my presentation. Please do keep them coming!
