Econofun Board Game - a hugely engaging way of revising economics
28th June 2016
I've blogged before about the economics board game Econofun but am now pleased to say that I have received a real copy of the game, fresh from the factory and I continue to be impressed! The Game is the brainchild of entrepreneur Serena Patel and asks players to make their way around the board by answering a series of questions that are aimed at A Level and IB level economic students.
There are over 200 questions, including a raft of cards asking for definitions, interpretations of diagrams and applied examples. Whilst aimed at making the activity fun and engaging the questions will genuinely test student understanding. I could see this game as a great antidote to that constant use of questioning in the run-up to an exam or acting as a student-led activity away from the classroom. Alongside that, this would be a superb cover lesson activity for the Economics department (assuming students are coming towards the end of their first or second year)- a huge relief for that Modern Foreign Language teacher asked to cover an Economics class with no preparation required!
Purchase of the game would give the teacher a great set of question cards that could be used for more than just the board game. The questions have been devised with the new specifications in mind and includes a good number that test quantitative skills
More details about the game and its inventor (as well as an online purchase process) can be found at the Econofun website.
