Don’t you just love it when Panorama does your lesson for you!

If you’re intending on teaching your classes about the government’s Private Finance Initiative in the coming days, I strongly urge you to read on

A recent episode of Panorama centred specifically on the topic of PFI and some of the many problems associated with it. It covered all of the key criticisms of the policy and provided some fascinating examples of problems with PFI schemes- I particularly like the school that was built without any light switches!

The only thing you will need to do with your classes after watching this is try to ensure some balance- the show is VERY one-sided, although some of the advantages are briefly mentioned and students who are listening keenly might spot some of them.

It’s currently on BBCiPlayer and listed as being available ‘for the next 12 months’, so should still be around next year too.
