Development Economics - Cameroon's fish farmers shaking up the market
18th July 2021
The rise of fish farming in Cameroon offers developmental opportunities and an increased supply of domestic fish to the market, something that's likely to benefit the economy as a whole.
The government is encouraging the sector by having removed all import tariffs (customs duties) from agricultural equipment. Training is helping to improve knowledge and know-how so that local people are enabled to improve their fishing methods.
A good reminder here that two of the key drivers of growth and development are policies to enhance capacity and capabilities.
