Corruption and the Natural Resource Curse in the DRC

This is a remarkable insight into how some Chinese mining companies have operated in the Democratic Republic of Congo, funnelling cash to the President and his cronies, via the Congolese banking sector.
It highlights how corruption in a developing economy can adversely affect the development prospects of a country, and highlights the need for institutional development, the rule of law and respect for property rights. It also serves to underscore the natural resource curse.
