Circular Flow of Income- courtesy of the ONS

Having just taught the circular flow of income to my year 12 Economists, the Office for National Statistics come along with a brilliant tool I can use to revise this topic- but it would work equally well as part of an introductory lesson.

Here is the static image courtesy of the ONS:

How ONS statistics explain the UK economy

Or alternatively, there is the interactive version which would be really useful for quick and easy access to the latest data on each aspect of this diagram- you simply click on the relevant option, e.g. 'UK trade', and up comes a list of the latest UK trade data.

A useful activity to link in with this could be to get different students/groups of students to research a particular aspect of the circular flow, using this webpage, and present back on what the latest data tells us and what that means for the UK economy- e.g. how it will affect our circular flow, the value of the multiplier, and our aggregate demand.
