China's State-Owned Car Making Giants

China is now easily the biggest manufacturer of cars in the world (overtaking Japan and Germany some time ago). In 2015, the country manufactured 21 million cars in production plants located in China. While a large amount of these vehicles are produced as joint ventures with MNCs such as Volkswagen, a significant and growing share comes from China's own vehicle assembly businesses, most of which are state-owned and the majority we have probably never heard of.
