BCC Survey - Confidence Disappears

Geoff Riley

7th October 2008

The latest survey of confidence from the British Chambers of Commerce will attract a lot of news coverage today. Their website offers images of the green shoots of business growth but their latest snapshot of business sentiment offers little in the way of optimism.

“The domestic economy is under immense pressure for the second quarter in a row, with the survey results showing that the UK is now in a worsening recession. The BCC believes that if the Government and the MPC act immediately to return confidence to UK plc, a major recession can be avoided.”

Will the MPC deliver this week?
