AS Economics Revision - The UK Economy Tracker

Geoff Riley

21st May 2010

The UK economy tracker from the BBC provides a quick and easy way to gather together the latest changes in key macroeconomic numbers - here is the link Without turning into Statto (!) - examiners will always credit students who show that they are up to date with this ever-changing subject and who apply their knowledge well to particular questions.

For example when we consider the labour market, this page from the BBC web site is good for just getting up to speed on the latest unemployment statistics ahead of your macroeconomics exam on the 7th of June. 2.5million people are out of work using the Labour Force Survey measure - the unemployment total is now at its highest level since December 1994. Making sure you are familiar with the key macro data charts for the UK can pay dividends in the data response paper. When revising these articles, imagine yourself having to write a data interpretation question based on the figures shown.
