An older population requires a change of mindset

I enjoyed reading this article by Hamish McRae in the Independent on the opportunities created by an ageing population. Changing the retirment age is an inevitable and probably necessary mechanistic response to the changing age structure of the population. Hamish is arguing that we need to develop a different mind-set about the needs and wants of an older workforce and society. Social capital, flexible work and leisure patterns and less intrusive bureaucracy can all play a very important part.
