Performance appraisal

Performance appraisal (also known as performance review or performance evaluation) is the process of evaluating an employee's job performance and providing feedback to help them improve. It typically involves the following steps:

  • Setting clear performance expectations or goals for the employee.
  • Observing and gathering evidence of the employee's performance throughout the evaluation period.
  • Conducting a formal evaluation meeting to review the employee's performance against the established goals.
  • Providing feedback and discussing areas for improvement and opportunities for development.
  • Agreeing on future goals and objectives for the employee.

Performance appraisals are typically conducted annually, but they can also be done more frequently, depending on the organization and the employee's role. The goal is to help employees grow and develop in their roles, and to support the overall success of the organization.
