Who should a start-up employ? Simple - the kids

Child labour. That’s the answer to some (not all) employment challenges facing a small business. A mailing campaign to put into envelopes? Need help with the photocopying or filing? Fancy a cup of tea brought up to the back-bedroom office. Then it makes sense to ask the kids to get involved, and grab a significant tax break at the same time…
A fascinating article here about employing children in family businesses. It has certainly got me thinking about how I can rope my two young children into the tutor2u business once they reach the magic age of 13
On a more serious note, the article makes interesting reading for any start-up or small business. A new business often finds it hard to afford staff, even on a part-time basis. So anything that can be done to reduce the tax burden on a family has got to be worthwhile - assuming all the legislation concerning the employment of minors is complied with.
