Useful online sources of business videos
9th March 2008
At the ICT in Business & Economics conference last week, we debated the best sources of free online videos for business & economics teachers. Here are some details of the resources that we recommended by delegates. Please feel free to recommend additional resources to us via the comments box below:
The undisputed leader for free online business videos. A stunning collection of audio & visual resources on almost every key business topic. Suitable not just for the latest topical stories, but also a great archive.
Telegraph TV - Business Show
A 5 minute daily round up of the business news + a brief discussion, all direct from the Telegraph’s offices
Cantos
Cantos pioneered business video online in the UK with the launch of the Cantos interview back in 2001.
The USP of Cantos is that the videos are largely in-depth discussions and interviews with the relevant business people, rather than a journalist’s interpretation of the story. Cantos is great for picking out interviews with CEOs of larger businesses - challenging but relevant material for A2 students.
BBC Working Lunch
A much lighter touch than Cantos, Working Lunch takes a consumer-focused approach to business and money stories. Lots of fresh content every week and videos are easy to access via the usual BBC media player. Very good for video resources on small businesses or for those looking for materials with an enterprise focus.
Risking it All
A fascinating series of online videos that explore the motivations and experiences of a variety of business startups. Excellent material for the new elements of the AS business courses.
Sky Business News
Sky’s Business Editor Michael Wilson and his team of reporters provide regular updates. Nowhere near as comprehensive as the coverage on BBC, but an alternative source for a change
