Twitter recruitment video - so bad it’s good?

It must be a good time to be a software engineer in the United States with a large number of companies both big and small desperate to get their hands on the best talent. Twitter have taken a novel approach to attracting some of this talent, giving their workers time off their usual tasks to produce a recruitment video. At first I didn’t think it was actual Twitter employees (and the actual CEO) in the video, just some people with a lot of time on their hands…

But it turns out it that is an official recruitment video and they obviously think that portraying Twitter as a fun place to work (along with all of the associated benefits given) will help to fill those vacant positions. The youtube video can be seen here

Other examples can be seen on the jobs section of the twitter website. They don’t seem to be concerned with being a smoke free workplace (it is outside to be fair)!

This graphic below perhaps explains the need to “compete” in the job market for software engineers. Facebook is the clear winner, attracting employees away from all of the other main destinations.
