They’ve done it again. The John Lewis Christmas advert for 2011 is 90 seconds long and already proving to be a viral hit. Could it also be the Christmas number 1?

A wonderfully evocative and emotional piece which seems to fit so well with the nature of Britain in 2011. We’re living in an age of austerity, so the focus is not on receiving, but giving.

A young lad has found a perfect gift for his Mum and cannot wait for Christmas day to arrive. The advert plays to the background track ‘Please, Please, Please let me get what I want’, which was originally recorded by the Smiths, and has been rerecorded by emerging artist Slow Moving Millie.
