Teaching Resource - Super Market Mapping
10th January 2014
This interactive resource encourages students to map the position of the UK’s leading supermarket operators against two dimensions. This is a process called “market mapping”.
We have provided two examples of how these dimensions might be set – for example price and quality. However, the dimensions are easy to edit and it is worth asking students to identify other ways in which the relative positions of the supermarket brands can be mapped.
There are no right or wrong answers to each mapping exercise. The key is to ask students to justify where they placed each supermarket on the map and to consider how the relative positions affect how well a particular supermarket can compete.
Each supermarket logo is provided as a image with a transparent background, making it easy for students to drag each logo around the map as they require.
