Spotting a Business Opportunity - Eastenders and Coronation Street

Whilst watching Eastenders last night, this belting activity just popped into my head. I think its perfect for the first unit of most GCSE courses but could also be used for BUSS1. A while away I know but I thought I would blog it before I forget.

Eastenders and Corrie are two of the most watched programmes in the UK and whilst watching Eastenders last night I started asking myself, if I lived in Albert Square and I wanted to set a business up, what would it be? The information was there on screen. I know the demographic profie, I know the shops and businesses that are around Albert Square and this really got me thinking. If it got me thinking, then it will get the students thinking.

I think this would be ideal for an unusual homework. It could even be an excellent class activity with a bit of preparation (made up market research data, some survey results from the people who live in the ‘square’).

This would work equally as well in Corrie.

Re Eastenders, that launderette seems to do OK. Theres a thought….........
