Google+ is the new kid on the social media block and has been getting some rave reviews as it looks to take on Facebook. My favourite comment came from the person who said “When I signed up to Google+ I thought it was cute that it played dumb and asked me for my personal information”. Here are a couple of graphics that relate the entry of Google+ to the product life cycle, including one that gives perhaps the best reason for young people to get on board!

Of course Justin Timberlake wouldn’t be happy with the first one as he is involved in a product extension strategy with myspace, but the graphic below is a nice way of showing their current respective positions.

The next one can be used for evaluation of the product life cycle - new competition can quickly lead to declining sales…

And why young people might be keen? But it probably won’t work because old fogeys like me are already exploring it!
