Should firms locate in the UK?

The answer is ‘yes’ if you accept the findings of the World Bank, who have placed Britain ahead of all other European economies in their annual “Doing Business” survey.

The UK was placed fifth overall in a ranking of 131 economies. There’s a short BBC article here that lists the whole Top 10. But before you check it out, all business students need to be thinking: how might such a list be compiled? What criteria are important? Have a go yourself, starting with drawing up the ten factors you think firms should prioritise when making their location decisions.

(Hint: it’s probably best to think of a particular firm first. Different firms in different industries will have very different requirements)
