Production Methods in Action

Peter McGinn

9th June 2020

My year 12 groups are currently exploring production methods via remote learning.

After an initial introduction to the topic by using a recent episode of ‘Inside the Factory’ and an accompanying worksheet, I was keen to use an example that is closer to home.

I got in touch with UGD Apparel, a functional fitness clothing company based in County Durham, to ask if they could help out.

They kindly produced this short video demonstrating how they have produced a new range of clothing by making use of surplus stock and giving them a second twist. Not only does this show job production in action but it is also a really interesting insight to see how small firms are making use of scarce resources in these challenging times. I’ll also use the clip when exploring entrepreneurship, added value and promotion.

Many thanks to UGD Apparel for filming the stages involved and sharing!
