The answer is Woolworths. In this case, the picture is of the store in Croydon which I understand is the longest serving store in the Woolworth’s UK store portfolio. A sad day for all staff and customers concerned, as the shop fittings are dismantled to be sold on. The shop stock looks like it has all gone. If any blog readers live in Croydon, I’d be interested to know which retailer takes up the space in the short-term - it is rare that prime retail space is left unoccupied for too long, even in a deep recession.
