PESTLE in Action | Should Trading Regulations Mean Diddly-Squat to Business Owners?
7th October 2022
Fans of Clarkson's Farm will not be surprised to hear that Jeremy is once again at odds with the trading laws and regulations set by his local council.
As the Caterer magazine report here, West Oxfordshire District Council have ordered the closure of the restaurant at his farm.
Clarkson opened the cafe and restaurant at Diddly Squat Farm in July 2022 after initial planning applications were rejected.
However, the council are not backing down and have now taken steps to close the spin-off business.
According to the Council:
"The business [Diddly Squat Farm] continues to operate outside the planning permissions granted and advice has been ignored. The activity has also had a significant impact on the local community."
It sounds like this is partly being played out for the cameras. After all Clarkson will need some more engaging storylines for the farm - if the cameras continue to chart his entrepreneirla journey.
But, should Clarkson be above the law?
My instinct says he wins this one, somehow.
