Things are simply not getting better for UK manufacturers. Put simply - there is no "march of the makers". Back in 2011 George Osborne famously heralded the important role of UK manufacturing in leading the UK economy out of recession.
Now Osborne is very quiet about manufacturing - because there is little he can do to revitalise the sector's performance.
