Life imitating art - ice cream turf wars!

Last year, Jim blogged on Marketing Lessons from the I Scream Men, a cracker of a video packed full of business studies concepts from the Chuckle Brothers - and my students enjoyed the task of identifying and explaining the relevant topics.

The youtube link from the blog post no longer works but the video can be seen in two parts via other youtube links - part one here and part two here. The two competing ice cream vendors go head to head and try anything to steal each others customers. But could this happen in real life?

Actually yes - two ice cream vendors in Blackburn (one from Mr Whippy and one from Mr Yummy) got into a heated argument over one of them stealing a customer and the end result was a broken window and a dented van - all captured from an upstairs window! The video of the encounter can be seen here and I will be showing this right after the Chuckle Brothers…
