Human Resource Management as Inflation Rises | Supporting Employees

It makes sound business sense to offer wider and deeper support to employees during a cost of living crisis.

The Guardian reports here on an extension to the groups of employees and contractors who are allowed free travel on the London Transport network,

High and rising inflation hits people and families on lower incomes harder than for those with higher incomes.

Sensible measures to ease the costs of getting to and from work and expenses incurred at work should help to retain valued staff at a time when unemployment in the UK remains low and job vacancies remain close to record highs.

We've seen something similar recently with the major supermarket groups offering a wider range of financial benefits to employees, such as free food and other discounts, in addition to wage rises. This report in Grocery Gazette has a useful summary of those strategies
