Good Analysis Hunting - How to Fully Develop an Argument.

Michael Albanese

12th January 2014

I am nothing if not current and bang up to date! I watched this 1997 classic for the first time last week and found a gem of a scene in which Matt Damon surprisingly demonstrates some impressive analytical skill. As films are invariably more interesting that me, I used this to drive home the importance of fully developing a point!

When marking, the most common targets I set are to “fully develop the argument” and “consider the consequences of the action”. In a job interview, asked the question “Why shouldn't you work for the NSA?”, Damon’s character gives a top mark answer in which he expands on the negative economic, social and environmental implications of accepting this job.

Warning! Despite it being a Certificate 15, there are a few expletives at the following times (I just tap mute at these points to avoid any offence!). 1:20,1:59, 2:09 and 2:27.

How do you like them apples?
