Gap to close all UK stores

20 years ago, GAP had the same market share as Primark, but yesterday they announced the closure of all of their UK stores and a move to wholly-online retailing.
Is this the beginning of the end for retailing? Fashion chain Gap is restructuring its European businesses, and selling all 81 of its stores in the UK and Ireland, and moving to an online only model.
Will they be the only firm to adopt this approach, or will others follow suit? And what are the implications for their costs, revenues and profitability?
