Forget motivation theory - lets try to demotivate people

It turns out motivation theory may had it the wrong way round after all. According to this web site, the trick is to focus on “demotivators” - an approach that seeks to increase success by lowering expectations…

Of couse Demotivators is somewhat tongue in cheek - but amusing and through-provoking at the same time!

The Pessimists Mug would make a great present for anyone in a business whose glass is never more than half full - but what leads someone to have such a view on life?

Then there are the range of demotivational posters - lots of alternative takes on common business studies concepts here. A fun activity would be to ask students to come up with some alternative, demotivational perspectives on a sample of business terms - e.g. what do “adding value” and “objectives” really mean?
