Flexible working thrives in the recession

A very useful article in the Guardian takes a look at how flexible working arrangements thrived during the UK recession as employers tried to find ways of reducing production capacity and operating costs without always resorting to compulsory redundancies…

The article compares and contrasts the approaches taken by smaller firms (and some professional service firms like KPMG) with that out larger businesses like BA and Barclays which are taking a more aggressive and confrontational approach to employer/employee relations.

Some excellent materials in the article - partcularly for AQA BUSS3 where the themes of flexible working and managing the employer/employee relationship are key themes.

The article is also perfect for AQA BUSS4 for students addressing the research tasks on the UK Recession.
