Flat-rate mobile phone from the kings of flat-pack

Global retail giant Ikea is diverisifying into the sale of mobile phones as part of its strategy of offering a broader range of products to its loyal customer base…

As Ikea packages go, this is probably one of the easiest to understand, and to assemble.

The Telegraph reports today that Ikea is launching a flat-rate mobile phone scheme as a new product offering for its store card members.

The Family Mobile pay-as-you-go deal is available for the UK’s 1.4m Ikea Family members, who will be charged 9p a minute for UK calls and 6p for text messages. Apparently this is significanty cheaper than similar schemes - which you might expect from a brand that has built its business offering popular household products at very low price points.

I’m not sure whether the Ikea phone will be given a strange-sounding name like all their other products. I entered the following words into an online Ikea Product Name Generator to get these results:

Mobile phone = INGBYLOPP
Fixed tariff = LOPPALBO
Vodafone beater = KUGGABODA
