Fixed-price retailing takes off in the UK
4th January 2009
Another excellent piece on the changing nature of UK retailing - this time in the Independent - charts the rise of “fixed-price retailing”...
The fixed price in question is £1. The product you buy might be a back of potatoes, some detergent, t-shirt or maybe even a meal from McDonalds. However the price you pay is the same - £1.
We reported earlier in the Business Studies blog about the rapid rise of Poundland. Now it looks like some of the UK’s leading retailers are attempting to imitate the fixed-price format that seems to be one of the few high growth retail segments in the recession.
