Economic Environment Student Activity – Buying a House
30th October 2016
A great independent activity to help students understand the importance of changes in the economic environment; students use the various web-links provided to purchase a house and arrange a mortgage.
Via this PowerPoint activity, students then have to:
- calculate the changes to the mortgage if interest rates rise
- work out the rate of inflation for houses
- see how much tax they’ll pay for their dream property, and
- decide on the salary they’ll require for the lifestyle they desire!
It’s a fun activity that improves their financial literacy, consolidates learning on macro-economics and, most importantly, motivates them to work hard so that they can afford that dream mansion in LA!
