Ecommerce & Distribution | Primark Finally Embraces Online - and Crashes
14th November 2022
Teething troubles no doubt. However, the launch of Primark's first online selling option soon crashed just a few hours after going live!
It is no surprise the website servers struggled to cope with the initial burst of interest.
That can be fixed pretty easily and quickly.
Not the least because, as the BBC reports here, Primark has opted for a limited function "click and collect" option for its first ever foray into online selling.
For Primark, getting customers into its physical stores remains the key focus.
As the Primark CEO states:
"We're massive fans of bricks and mortar. We believe in stores and we believe in the High Street. We think click-and-collect is the right proposition".
As the cost-of-living crisis bites further into consumer confidence, there's little reason to think that Primark stores will be quiet this festive season - click and collect, or not.
Despite rising costs, Primark recently announced a freeze in selling prices in order to remain highly competitive.
