Culture Change is Driving Microsoft Performance
4th August 2016
An interesting article here from an entrepreneur writing in the FT about how a change in organisational culture at Microsoft has changed the way Microsoft approaches external growth and business performance.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has undoubtedly led significant change in the business in his first two years in charge. His vision of a cloud-first, mobile first strategy has required Microsoft to change the way it views competitors. Partnerships and joint ventures are now very much the way forward, including with former arch rival Apple!
There is a great line in the article that explains that such a change in strategic approach is needed:
"Daunted by the pace of change, they are trying to become more adaptive: less obsessed with planning, more concerned with flexibility. At Microsoft, this is framed as a shift from a fixed mindset — one that depends on a few superstars — to a growth mindset, in which everyone must be open to learning from everything and from each other.
