In response to falling demand for new cars, Toyota is planning to reduce the number of daily shifts at its main UK plant in Burnaston (Derbyshire). There are no plans to make anyone redundant.

Toyota says it will adopt a similar shift-cutting strategy at its engine-making plant in Poland and has announced plans to cut back production in the US.
