BUSS4 Manufacturing: solving the Productivity Puzzle

Everyone preparing for BUSS4 should put aside an hour or so of their revision time to consider two great resources which have appeared this week, analysing why Britain's productivity isn't rising in line with it's GDP output. In spite of the highest current GDP growth amongst the G7 nations, GDP per hour worked is lower now than in 2007, and flatlining, as the chart here shows. No wonder that George Osborne is promising that his Budget in July will present a 'Productivity Plan'.
