Break-even and Why Businesses Fail | For Doncaster Sheffield Airport, It's Terminal?

Just not enough passengers. That's the issue as it looks like Doncaster Sheffield Airport is set to close.

As this BBC report explains, there are many stakeholders urging the owners of the airport to avoid closure.

Not the least the 800 airport workers.

However, it sounds like the lack of financial viability is the main reason why this business is failing.

It's a lethal combination of lack of sales revenues (too few passengers and flights) and fixed costs that are too high.

As a representative from the airport owner states:

"The intractable problem remains the fundamental and insufficient lack of current or prospective revenue streams, together with the airport's high operating costs,"
