Being Entrepreneurial - Simon Says
11th September 2013
‘Simon Says…’ is an ideal introductory lesson activity for the Being Entrepreneurial qualification It illustrates some of the skill sets required by entrepreneurs. The activity is undertaken by teams aiming to prove that they have some of the skills highlighted by the resource ‘host’ Simon.
The main purpose of Simon Says is therefore to introduce some of the key skills required by an entrepreneur and to encourage learners to co-operate, communicate, be communicative, organised and creative! They'll have great fun too!
In Task One the individual groups must come up with a name for their team that they will have to justify.
In Task Two, each team is allocated one of six objects and must come up with an alternative use for that object. The timer is started and each team is under time presssure to come up with some creative ideas.
In Task Three the teams are given a simple critical path problem. They have three minutes to complete the task.
In Task Four ‘Task four’ the teams are asked to choose five of the given ten people on the sheet to help organise an impromptu party. At the end they
will have to justify their answers. Who will they choose - and why?
Task Five is the final and most challenging part of Simon Says. Each team must organise themselves effectively to "multi-task" in a frenetic 15 minute period. The team that works together best and organises properly is most likely to come out on top!
