Adding Value - Creative Uses of a Aluminium Tray

One of the starter activities at our AQA-BUSS-ter CPD events around the UK this week involves asking teachers to identify creative ways in which value could be added to a simple aluminium tray. The only contraint to their thinking is that the container cannot be used to transport food. Here are some of the creative ideas that the teacher teams have come up with so far:

Birmingham

Seed tray (Team Brilliant) - encouraging children to grow plants

Bird Scarer (Team Radicals) - rattles and glints to discourage birds

2-in-1 Garden candle and slug catcher (Team Tiki) - a dual-layer tray containing wax for the candle and below that area for slug repellant which is revealed once the candle has expired

3in1 Camping Saucepan (Team Indestructibles) - perfect for the festival goer; tray starts as a saucepan, then holes are made where marked to create a salad strainer; when the salad is eaten, the remaining tray then becomes an ideal shower head for the camp baths

Manchester

Trainer Tray (The Gurus) - a trainer or small shoe tidy: ideal for muddy and wet shoes

Portable ash tray (The Assets) - targeted at the festival market

Ken & Barbie’s Jacuzzi - a silver jacuzzi for best- selling dolls; includes sachets of bubble bath and bath-water colouring

A mini purse (Team One Direction) - refashioning the aluminium into a stylish purse targeted at the affluent and gullible customer segment
